It started with the realisation. Kelsey was still living in San Francisco when she noticed that more and more women were riding motorcycles. Gone is the time when only men cruised through the city on two wheels. Why hadn't she of all people bought a bike yet? The thought of buying a motorcycle wouldn't leave her alone.

The marketing manager now works in Los Angeles and has loved the mental, physical and emotional challenges of riding a motorcycle since 2012. "Sometimes, my bike takes me to a world of my own". For Kelsey, a ride is soothing to the soul, respite from everyday life. A bit of adventure. "I feel the wind, sometimes it is pretty quiet. And everything around me is in flux".
Kelsey knows the danger of riding, especially as a resident to Los Angeles. Her helmet saved her life. "When you fall your whole mindset changes and it can be challenging to overcome that feeling". She by no means wanted to give up her hobby. She had long been used to the wind in her hair and the freedom.
She bought her first bike with 9000 miles on the clock. It had two previous owners. "It now lives its life at my side". Kelsey has stayed loyal to "Grandpa Magnet" – her loving nickname for the bike – for all these years. A grateful bike, even though she admits with a smile to sometimes have neglected its care. "When I can't put it off any longer, then I'll grab the water bucket".
And how does she like to ride? "Fast and relaxed", says Kelsey, laughing. That's not a contradiction for her. On a Sunday she likes to go on spontaneous rides by herself - often listening to music by "The Black Angels". Of course she also loves touring with her friends. She'll go away for a weekend with her camping gear in her luggage. Her boyfriend also rides a motorcycle – Kelsey really recommends this set-up. "It's much more fun when your partner is a biker too".
